Bathing Tips For Your Toddlers

Your toddler is growing. They’re walking, maybe even talking, and all that activity needs to be cleaned up after. When it is time for a bath, there are several things you need to keep in mind. Safety is always number one and these tips will help you keep a watchful eye:

Alone Time is a No Go

This goes without saying, but your toddler should never be left on his/her own when they are bathing. To ensure their safety, make sure you keep all of your soaps, towels and bath toys within arm’s reach so you don’t have to get up and search for them. Your eyes need to stay locked because you know how mischievous they can be!

Make Sure the Tub is Filled

Don’t fill up your bathtub with the toddler already inside of it. Water temperatures can change very suddenly based on the other plumbing appliances in use throughout your home and you don’t want them getting burnt. They already cry enough!

Test the Temperature

You want your child to enjoy their bath so you don’t have to fight them to get into it. Before they get in, let the water cool down to a luke warm and feel it with the back of your hand. If it feels comfortable, let them get in the tub feet first.

Make Suds Seldom

Your child might like the suds and bubbles that come with soaps and gels, but they could be having negative effects. Certain soaps are designed to cause bubbles, and the chemicals that start that reaction could be drying out their skin. Try using as many natural soaps as you can and don’t add chemicals that are specifically designed to create bubbles.

A bathtub without hot water or a bathtub that just doesn’t work is not good for your toddler either! Here at Levine & Sons, we can take care of these problems so that you can focus on your safety and preparation checklist.
