6 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Clean In The Washing Machine

Think your washing machine can only handle clothes? Think again. These machines are actually quite versatile and have the ability to clean a number of household items you may have never even thought about. Now that you know these helpful tricks, your life just became a whole lot easier AND more productive!

Shower Curtains & Liners

Whether it’s plastic or fabric, you can toss your shower curtain in the washing machine when it starts looking and feeling grimy. Throw them in with a few bath towels and regular detergent and they’ll come out looking good as new.

Shower Mats

Just like your shower curtain, rubber shower mats collect dirt and soap scum on a daily basis. Run it through the washer with your shower curtains or towels.

Oven Mitts & Pot Holders

After a few uses, chances are your oven mitts and pot holders start looking dirty and smelling stale. Throw them in with any load of laundry and hang them to dry.

Soft Lunch Boxes & Coolers

Let’s face it, kids aren’t always the cleanest and we all know how dirty their lunch boxes can get. Be sure to check the label first, but most lunch boxes and insulated coolers are washing machine-safe. Just remember to hang it upside down to try rather than tossing it in the dyer.

Stuffed Animals

They can act like a best friend at times, but they’re also great at attracting allergens and other germs. Throw them into a pillowcase or mesh laundry bag and run them through a gently cycle.

Pet Collars & Leashes

You just gave your dog a bath so why put that dirty leash collar back on? Place these items in a laundry bag and toss them in with a load of towels. You’ll be surprised at how clean it looks when it comes out.
