Some plumbing jobs can be easily fixed without any extensive plumbing knowledge and with a few inexpensive tools. That’s right, no need for a toolbox full of unnecessary and expensive tools!

Get these three tools and you can solve some of the most common and basic plumbing repairs:

  1. Plunger: If you have a drain back-up that is isolated to one plumbing fixture (not a main sewer line or multiple fixtures like everything on the the first floor), a plunger will most likely solve your problem. There are two types of plungers, a flange plunger and a cup plunger. The flange plunger is designed to fit the trap way of a toilet, thus providing a better seal. A cup plunger is designed for a sink/tub drain.

  2. Adjustable pipe wrench: This tool is plumbing classic. Just look at what our super plumber carries! A pipe wrench allows you to grasp round objects with ease. You can tighten up any piping with threads to stop leaks. Just be careful because the “teeth” on a pipe wrench are notorious for leaving marks on what it grabs.  Use a soft cloth or masking tape if you want to preserve the finish.

  3. Six-Way Screw Driver: Need I say more? This is just like a standard screwdriver with six different interchangeable heads, including Phillips (+), flat blade (-), and hex heads. Any plumbing fixture that uses a screw can be tightened or loosened with a six way screw driver.
