Heating Repair- Energy Savings

Turn Down the Heat
The winter chill is intimidating, but there’s a good chance you are overdoing it with your heat. Did you know that every degree you turn down the thermostat you could save up to 3% on your heating bill? It doesn’t seem like much, but every degree counts and there are some easy ways to conserve heat within your home. Bundle up in blankets, cook with the oven and make sure your home is properly insulated to get the most out of every degree.

Seal Your Windows
When you install windows on the exterior of your home, there is going to be small gaps within the frame. No window fits perfectly and it is your job to seal up these areas to make sure you lock in the heat. It’s quite simple, just go down to the local hardware store, buy a caulk gun and go to work locking things down.

Keep Your Distance
To achieve maximum efficiency, you need to make sure your heating vents are clear of any obstructions. Whether it be the couch, a hutch or the Christmas tree, you need to make sure nothing is getting in the way of the hot air that is trying to circulate around your home. The general rule of thumb is that the vent should be clear in all directions by at least three feet.

Change Your Filters
A furnace with a dirty filter is costly, dangerous and simply silly. Changing the filter takes around five minutes, it costs around $20 and anybody can do it. Just make sure the arrows are pointing the same direction as the filter you removed and you’ll be in the clear.
