Here at Levine & Sons we are all about mother nature. Our Go Green initiative is well documented and we do what we can to make this world a healthier place for all of us to live in. While home heating systems and water heaters are never going to be fully eco-friendly, there are several things that the contractor and customer can do to improve efficiency. Here are a few of those things:
Saving Energy
Saving energy in the winter time starts and ends with your heating system. It is responsible for over 30% of your home’s energy usage and if you manage it properly, there are savings to be had. One tip we tell all of our clients is to experiment with their thermostats. If you can stay comfortable at 70°F versus 73°F you could save up to 10% on your heating bill!
Saving Water
There are several small things you can do to save water like brushing your teeth in the shower and insulating your pipes. But if you want big time savings, you have to make big time changes. We are talking about installing WaterSense approved toilets, showerheads and faucets to get the best efficiency on the market. We are WaterSense experts here at Levine & Sons and we would love to install your fixtures today!
Reducing Emissions
The key to reducing emissions and saving big this winter is upgrading. While the initial cost might be high, the long term benefits can not be ignored. Energy Star approved appliances require less maintenance, they have a smaller carbon footprint and they are cheaper to run.
Cozying Tips
- Bundle up in your blankets and lower the thermostat.
- Try a pellet stove or fireplace.
- Let the sun in and raise the blinds.
- Make sure couches, tables and furniture are all at least five feet away from heating registers.
We strive to be good members of the Metro Detroit community and we feel our Go Green initiative is a step in the right direction. If you would like to learn more about our services or schedule an appointment, call Levine & Sons at 1-888-LEVINE1 or click around on our website!
