So, you’ve listened to your friends and family members and have finally made the upgrade to a programmable thermostat. More power to you! But to lots of homeowners, switching to new devices means lots of hours struggling to figure the thing out and even more hours trying to get their home comfortable again. If you’re having trouble setting your new thermostat, don’t worry you’re not alone – and we’re here to help!

Step 1 – Familiarize yourself with the different settings. Most programmable thermostats have a “heat” mode, a “cool” mode and a variety of fan options.

Step 2 – Turn the fan on – you’ll likely have an “on” option or an “auto” option. If it’s set to “on” the system will continuously run until you switch it back to off. The “auto” option means the system will only kick on when it detects a change in the actual temperature of the room compared to the set temperature.

Step 3 – Now it’s time to actually set your desired temperatures and this is where the user manual comes into play. Flip to the cool setting to start setting your air conditioning temperatures. Click on the “set” button (or similar button) to set the temperature, day of the week and time of day you want the thermostat to kick on.

Step 4 – Once you’ve finished setting the air conditioning portion, flip to the “heat” setting and repeat the latter portion of step 3.

Step 5 – Now that you’ve got the temperatures, days of the week and times of day settings in place, click the “run” button so the system remembers these settings.

Now all you need to do is flip the switch to “cool” during the warmer months, “off” when you don’t need air conditioning or heat, and “heat” during the colder months and you’re on your way to a comfortable home!

We charge by the job, not by the hour, so you know exactly how much it’s going to cost up front to keep your house at the temperature you need it– with no surprises. Remember, when you call Levine & Sons you’re calling a friendly neighborhood plumber, heating or air conditioning specialist – with the track record, size and courtesy to get the job done right, the first time.
